I like using post processing techniques to develop a visual idea, in this case an aggressive treatment has been applied to accentuate the weathered feeling of the subject matter, and highlight a sphere of very sharp focus surrounded by a larger defocussed area. There is something about this technique which imparts a kind of tenderness to the image. It is shabby, but it is carefully, even lovingly presented.
